Sunday Recap - Here as in Heaven: The Beatitudes - 2nd March 2025

Here as in Heaven: The Beatitudes

Message Overview:

In this message, we launched our 2025 theme ‘Hear as in Heaven’. This year we are believing to see the miraculous power of God move in people’s lives through signs, wonders and miracles as well as see our hearts transformed to become more like Jesus, the realty of experiencing heaven here in our lives.  Throughout this year we are going to preach through the sermon on the mount found in Matthew Chapter 5 – 7, Which was Jesus’ announcement of what The Kingdom of Heaven looks like here on earth.  Jonny shared The Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:1-12. Jonny finished his message with this reflection:

Where do you find yourself today? Do you find yourself overwhelmed, stressed, unsure, marginalised, it doesn’t feel like you are living the good life. Jesus asks us to flip our perspective. Where you are right now, in the place of brokenness Jesus can bring the Kingdom of Heaven to you.

Or maybe life is going really well. Are you in danger or operating in self-sufficiency. You have have the eternal security of being with Jesus in heaven one day, but do you need him day to day. What do you need to re-prioritise so you can live in the promises of The Kingdom of Heaven laid out by Jesus?

Key Scriptures:

Matthew 5:1-12 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.
The Beatitudes
He said: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
