Sunday Recap - Sunday 2 August - ANOINTED

Anointed - Acts 6 & 7
Message Overview:
We are jumping back into our Anointed series.
On Sunday, Pastor Georgie shared from the life of Stephen, the first Christian martyr. Stephen gives an incredible example of what it looks like to live an Anointed Life. Some key points from the message with some questions:
1. Stephen served in his area of gifting and made room for the Holy Spirit to move through him.- Are we allowing the Holy Spirit to move through us as we serve in our own area of gifting?
2. Stephen faced opposition from the religious people. He told them they were 'resisting the Holy Spirit' and challenging their mindset and restriction of how and where they thought God could move.
- Do you have areas in your life where you are 'resisting' the voice and work of the Holy Spirit in your life? What would it look like to surrender to Him today?
- Are there ways in your life that you may have restricted God?
3. Stephen was prepared to defend his Faith.
- Are you prepared to defend your faith?
- Are you taking opportunities to share the gospel with those around you?
- Are you able to discern when the truth is being twisted?
4. Stephen was motivated by love and the work of the Holy Spirit in His life - with a desire to reach those who were persecuting him.
- Have we allowed the Holy Spirit to give us an attitude of love and grace towards those who might want to oppose us?
- How can we adjust our attitude towards those people?
Key Scriptures:
| Acts 6 and 7 Matthew 5:10-12 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Ephesians 5:15-20 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 3: 8-17 |
