Sunday Recap - Sunday 4th October - ANOINTED Acts Chapter 18

Anointed -  ACTS Chapter 18

Message Overview:

In Acts 18, Paul arrives in Corinth, a city known for its wealth, influence, and moral corruption. Although God is using him powerfully and people are coming to faith in Jesus, Paul admits that he came with “fear and trembling.” In the midst of opposition and cultural pressure, Jesus speaks directly to Paul: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you… and I have many people in this city.” This passage reminds us that fear is a normal part of the human experience, even for faithful followers of Jesus. The answer to fear is not greater self-confidence but greater confidence in God’s presence and purpose. Because Jesus is with us and continues to seek people who need Him, we can move forward with courage and obedience, even when fear is present.

Reflection & Discussion Questions:
1.Paul openly admits that he came to Corinth with “fear and trembling.” What does this teach us about the relationship between fear, faith, and obedience?

2.Jesus tells Paul, “Do not be afraid… For I am with you.” Why do you think God’s presence is often His primary answer to our fears rather than the immediate removal of our challenges?

3.The sermon highlighted that fear can protect us in some situations but hinder obedience in others. Can you think of an area of your life where fear may be keeping you from taking a step of faith?

4.Jesus said, “I have many people in this city.” How does seeing people through Jesus’ eyes change the way we view our workplace, neighbourhood, family, or community?

5.What is one practical way you can respond to God’s call to “keep on speaking and do not be silent” this week?

Practical Application:
This week, prayerfully identify one area where fear has been causing you to hesitate. Ask God for courage and take one intentional step of obedience. This could be:
•Sharing your faith story with someone.
•Inviting a friend or family member to church.
•Praying with someone who is struggling.
•Starting a spiritual conversation.
•Taking the next step in your own walk with Jesus.

Remember: Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is choosing obedience because Jesus is with you.
