Armour of God - Week 2 - The Body Armour of Righteousness

Message Overview:

In Ephesians 6, Paul reminds believers that we are engaged in a real spiritual battle and that our role is to stand firm in the strength and power of God. Using the image of the breastplate of righteousness, he highlights the importance of guarding our hearts, as the direction of our lives flows from what captures our devotion and affection. While we have already received the righteousness of Christ through faith, we are also called to actively live it out, to become what we already are. This means not simply knowing the truth of God's Word but practising it daily through forgiveness, generosity, truthfulness, self control, encouragement, and lives that reflect the character of Jesus. As believers walk in righteousness, they increasingly resemble Christ and demonstrate the reality of their new identity. Paul warns that ongoing sin and compromise can create opportunities for the enemy to gain influence, but a life marked by righteousness protects the heart and frustrates the devil's schemes. Every act of obedience becomes an act of spiritual warfare, strengthening our ability to stand firm when opposition comes. As we faithfully put on the breastplate of righteousness each day, we practise righteousness and deny the devil opportunity.
